Summer Vacation
Colonial Michilimackinac
We spent one afternoon at Colonial Michilimackinac a 1770's fort and fur trading village. We toured the buildings, tried-on old 3 point beaver-felt hats, watched a musket firing, and saw the new things the archaelogists on sight are still uncovering. It was pretty interesting to see what life was like 200+ years ago; I'll keep my electricity and indoor plumbing. We searched the grounds for the "stocks" to recreate a photo of Deb and her dad in the summer of 1970 but the stocks have been taken out of the fort. Mati was bored by most of the tour but lit up when we found the horses and sheep in the back of the fort. She adores animals!
Summer Vacation
Mackinac Island
We took our first family vacation at the end of July. We spent one day on Mackinac Island. Mati loved the horses and the ferry ride to and from the island. She was a trooper and a great little tourist. Here we are in front of "Arch Rock." The guide said this formation is expected to deteriorate in the next 5-10 years so I'm glad we got to see it when we did.
